Lacour, the French Minister of Foreign A ffurs, has admitted that an understanding exists between France and England, that neither Po^er shall annex the New Hebrides. It is rumoured m welWnformed 1 circles that President Grevy is likely to resign. The Malagasy population will retire into the interior if the French war ships ' attack Tamative, but a general massacre lof foreigners is feared if the attack is | made. M. Lacour has officially announced that France intends to permanently occupy certain portions of Touquin. The Queen of Madagascar has applied to the Governments of England and Germany to intervene, and prevent France from bombarding Tamstave. It has transpired that Her Majesty's ship Dryad, on the East Indian station / has been ordered to Tamatave, to watch British interests m Madagascar m the present crisis.
