EDUCATION BOARD CANDIDATES.

It would appear that some June? of understanding ba3 been entered into, between the Wanganui and Patea School Committees, to the effect that if the former supports Mr Taplin's Candida^ ture for Patea, the latter will support Mr Carson for Wanganui. At tha meeting of the Wanganui fechool Committee for Wanganui the Rev Mr Treadwell tried to get. the Key Mr Doull nominated for th ■ Patea vacancy, but m that he was unsuccessful, and Mr Taplist was selected. The rev gentleman was also sharply taken to task by one of the Committee for trying to upset what had been agreed to at a former meeting. The Chairman made the most of very weak grounds for opposition against Mr Snelson m objecting to his candidature on the plea of his occasional absence from the Board meetings, owing to ill health. Other members paid a high tribute to the value of Mr Snelson's services as a member of the Board . An amendment to substitute Mr MacarthoVs name for Mr Snelson's did not even find a seconder, and the Her Mr . Ross with Messrs Cars on and Snelson were nominated for the ordinary vacancies. We note that the Wanganui Herald approves of the same nominations selected by us m our issue of last Wednesday, which wo again commend to the favourable consideration Of the various Committees m the district, viz., Messrs Snelson, Carson, and Major Willis', for the the three ordinary vacancies,
