About 5 o'clock on Thursday evening a tremendous downpour of rain, lasting over half- hour, flooded the streets, and converted the low-lying parts of the town into a lake, the wnter m places being seeral feet deep. The damage, however is not great, being chiefly con* fined to injury to the contents of a few houses by wat°.r and mud. Christohurgh, March 16. The liabilities m the estate of Mr. J.
