A question of considerable importance to Building Societies was raised the other day by a correspondent of the { Oamam Mail.' Pointing out to the Secretary of a Society, to which he had made a payment, that the"receipt was unstamped, he was positively informed that the law did not enforce the stamping. Our contemporary remarks :— "We have looked through the list of exemptions to be found at the erid of the Stamp Act, and find that Building Societies'receipts are not mentioned there.
