Cocksfoot Grass.

Dear Sir,— .Will you kindly m".: : form me if cocksfoot grass seed, sown next autumn, will seed the following season ; and, if so, whuther the feed will possess vitality ? — I am, &c, Beginner."— Cocksfoot, if sown m April or. May, will both seed, and the seed will pofsess vitality the next season ; ■ bub it all depends upon the quality of the land^ whether a payable crop could be obtHined. The second and third years' yield of seed is always better than the first, as the plants get ctablished, become stronger, and, of coursej are better able to produce seed. I am writing of bush land, upon which the grass can be grown cleaner than on ploughed land. For seed -purposes, cocksfoot requires really first»clasß soil, w ere it will grow almost as strong as wheat, and give excellent returns if it receives j u stice. M an y c cksfoot grown ers : never graze their paddocks at all, but keep them exclusively for seed ; and it pays thorn to do so. Some settlers, m sowing cocksfoot, put on a^out ten pounds of seed to the acre along with a bußhel of rye grass. The following season tbej cut the latter for seed. The cocksfoot afterwards takes the lead m growth, and Me next year is reaped for crop of seed, and can be reaped for years m succession, if land is rich,
