The Government of Madagascar has extended increased privileges to English residents and traders. The new American tariff has passed the Senate, an amendment for increasing the duties on wool being defeated. The Financial Reform Association of England has urged on Mr Childers, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the propriety of abolishing all food taxes affecting Indian and colonial industries. Mr Childers promised to consider the suggestion.
