LATER PARTICULARS.
The origin of fire this morning is attributed to rats gnawing matches. The two buildings which were destroyed are owned by Jacob Joseph and are insured in the Colonial Office. McCredie's shop, which is only slightly damaged, is owned by Mr Lowes, of Masterton, and is insured. Madame De Launay's stock is covered with insurance, but both Jameson's and McCredie's stocks are uninsured. The former is almost completely destroyed by fire and water, but the latter is only a little damaged by removal.
