HEAVY SENTENCES.

I A.tthe Supreme Court, John Yorston, who was some days ago convicted of attempted rape on a married woman at Naseby, was sentenced to seven years' penal servitude, and M. E. G. Heals, for criminal assanlt on a girl nine years old at Taieri, also, got seven years.' Edmund Finch, on a charge of rape on a] Maori girl at Moeraki, was acquitted.
