Dangerous Bush Fire.
The fire alluded to m oar issue of Saturday evening fortunately lulled towards sunset with the wind, though the residents m the neighborhood of the old Palmerston Hotol wore compelled to k"3p a good look out during Saturday nightj as the sparks from burning trees were very threatening. On Sanday morning, however, the wind again rose, and the fire began to spread with great rapidity. Showers of dangerous sparks, caused the utmost anxiety for the safety of the dwelling houses of Messrs Partridge, Pratt, and Jonson. About 4 o'clock m the afternoon the fire was at its worst. A number of willing hands were on the ground. The house of Mr Paitridge was m imminent danget, and w<»s only savtd from destruction, by the roof being spread with wet' sacks, and well damped. In the meantime Mr Jonson's cotrage was m a dangerous position ; indeed at one time it was feared the house was doomed, .but thanks to plenty of willing men, the destruction of property was avoided, arge numbers of people congreg&tedj all willing to give assistance; though fairly blinded with suioke. The fire only became subdued when it had completely passed through the piece of bush m question. Tlie rain after nightfall removed all ' mgnr.
