SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
o As a sequel to our article of yesterday, pointing ont the unfairness of the present system of election of School Committees, we may inat.ahce .the following', which occurred m Dunedin, as telegraphed by the United Press Associa* tjon ; — " At the public meeting on Monday ofght for the . election of a School Committee for * Dnhedin 696 persons voted, and 9 votes were rejected as informal. Of these 252 voted for ore candidate, 140 'for' -two, "T4-I ' for three, 81 for four, 30 for five, 9 for six, and 34 for seven . It is asserted that persons who were only on a visit Jo Dunedin voted, also that one person got as many as four voting papers and gave his candidate 28 votes m all." Such are the contingencies that are always likely to arise by the provisions of the existing Act, which, m this particular is the most irrational piece of legislation it is possible to conceive.
