Prince Jerome Bonaparto's manifesto denounced the impotence and iucapacity of the present Government of France, as shown m the decadence of the army, trade, and public finance of the country coupled with the increased debt. He eulogised the plebiscite, The manifesto is generally consiiered to be illtimed, and apparently was been issued to forestall any movement on the part of the Count de Chambord and the Legitimist party. Prince Jerome's following has apparently been diminished. Mr. J. Kynaston Crosß, member for Bolton-lcMoors, succeeds Viscount Enfietd as Parliamentary Under" Secretary for India. Cetewayo has arrived at his home, and met with an enthusiastic reception. The total amount of the Victorian loan taken v,, is £600,650. The balance has been withdrawn. The sir ike among the employes engaged on the Caledonian Raiiwav has impeded the traffic, and m consequence several collieries and factories have stopped working. Granier De (Jissa^nac disclaims any knowledge of the manifesto issued by Prince Jerome, and ridicules the action takea by him. London, Jan. 19. The steamer Colombo which grounded m the Suez Canal at present corns pletely blocks all traffic. The negotations are proceeding between England and France on the subject of the control of Egyptian finances are at a complete standstill, the arrangement proposed on either side being mutually unsatisfactory. Christine Nielsen is ab present suffering from affection of the throat which prevents her appearing m public for some time to come. Crops m Lincolnshire hare become completely sodden through late heavy rains nnd their destruction is considered a matter of certainty.
