(united pbess association.) Invehcarcill, January 13. This enening, at the Albion Hotel, at the banquet m honor of Sir J. Yogel a large company assembled. His worship the Mayor presided, and proposed the health of Sir J. Yogel, who, m response, acknowledged with much cordiality and feeliag the compliment paid him. He dwelt on the introduction of the Government Insurance scheme, and the reasons that bad impelled him to initiate it. He gave a sketch of the several loan negotiations, and referred bo the fact that on that very day the loan for 1,000,000 would be put on the London market, expressing confidence that it would bo a success. The In» | scription of Stock Act and its beneficial consequence were then enlarged on. Sir Julius, with muoti animation, insisted on the necessity for further immigration and declared his conviction that the increase m the value of property m Otago and Southland alone, through public works and immigration, would equal the colonial debt. He assured the audience that only the inroads on his health, caused by his exertions m the public service, had led to his leaving the colony and accepting the Agent-General-ship. His peroration was an address of farewell to the colony, couched m the most eloquent and touching terms. He said ho had intended to write to the newspapers expressing his thanks for the princely manner m which he had been received by the colony.
