POSTAL SUGGESTIONS.
The Mercantile (Shipping Register and Commercial Keview considers that a parcels post should be a very consider., able souice of income to the Post ! - ffice, and m return f..r the concession granted, ilie Post Uffice might give the nation one or two extra conveniences which j would be much appreciated. A postal card ot double the present size, made of good stiff paper, which could be folded and secured by a gummed flap would be a real boon, and would peihups save | the Post Uffice for many years from the I threatened demand for a half-penny post. It would be just as convenient for the post DunrJle of the same weight, aud it would increase the use of post cards three-fold. Another b>on coni stanily asked for is a bug or box m each guards-van for letters for the terminus to which that train was proceeding. This would often be h great convenience, especially if the railway companies would agree to collect the letters fro«n a box m the station for each train. They could be taken out as the train was signalled. The Poet Office might notify that they disclaimed any responsibility for letters so posted.
