(SPECIAL TO MBLBOUIiNIS AGE.) ARABI EULOGISED AS A PATtUUT. THE RUSSO-GERM^N DIFFICULTY. NEGOTIATIONS FOR TEE NEW ZEALAND STEAM-SERVICE. (united press association.) Arabi Pasha has received a large number of letters from persons m all parts of the woild, eulogising his career as that of a Nationalist patriot, and congratulating him on the lenity of the punishment which it has been fully decided he shall undergo. Amongst those who have sent him complimentary letters is Mr H. Labouchere, M. P. for Northampton, well kuown ,as the pros prietor of several society papers. The accession of Lord Derby to the Gladstone Cabinet has created considerable disquietude m Austria, where his inclusion m the Ministry is conn siderad a<t likely to confirm the pro* Russsian policy of the premier. The Czar of Russia has conferred decorations ou nearly 100 prominent officers and public men m Turkey. In view of a probable collision between Russia and Germany, a strong •agitation has arisen m Denmark m favor of a strictly neutral attitude being observed by that country m case of a war breaking out between the two nations referred to. Meetings of the new National League are being held m various parts of Iraland, at which the most seditious sentiments aie openly expressed. At Athenry, m Connaught, yesterday, 40 persons were arrested by order of the Government for taking part m a trea« sonable assemblage. An association has been formed m London with a view to the introduction of several species of foreign fiah into English waters. It appears that a number of Italian agitators have been the principal movers m the recent Socialist outbreak m Lyons and other ceritres of population m France. The Government; have therefore taken measures for the expuK sion of the Italian suspects from the country. ' l It is understood that Sir F. Dillon Bell the Agent-General for New Zealand will to-day conclude negotiations for the eftablishment of the direct mail service from England to that country. The Russian troops stationed at Pavlo* grad having shown symptoms of disaffection to the reigning Czar, it is probable that several regiments will be disbanded, as the revolutionary feeling is believed to be very great m their ranks. The recent execution of Oberdank, for an alleged attempt upon the life of the Emperor of Austria, at Trieste, has created a bitter feeling between Italy and Austria, which has-been enhanced by the Emperor's abandoning his intention of visiting the King of Italy at Rome. # i The hostile feeling which has for | some time past been displayed m Arabia towards the Ottoman Caliphate, has at last assumed the form of an open revolt. The Porte is organising measurea for the assertion of its authority and troops will be at once despatched to the locality of the rising.
