The Million Loan.
[Post.] The Government have received a cabie message from the Agent-General corroborating the telegraphic news published m our second edition yesterday, to the effect that the new Million Loan has been announced, and will ha placed, on the market on Thursday next, the rate of interest being fixed at 4 per cent., and the paice 98£. It is noteworthy that the Victorian 4 per cent, loan is being simultaneously offered at par, and it will be interesting to see how the respective loans fare at the hands of Home capitalists. Aiso it may not be uninterestiag to recall the fact that our last lloathen — the Five Mils lion Loan of 1879— only realised 97£ although the iuteiest was 4^ per cent., and certain collateral advantages were conceded which ultimately made the net price when converted into 4 per cent. Inscribed Stock only a fraction over 79. It is evident, tnerefore, that the Loan Agents are taking up a bold and confident stand on the restored solvency and re-established financial credit of this colony. We hope that the result "will be m every respect favourable, as, indeed, the latest Home advices lead us to deem probable.
