Criminal Records.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunbdin, Jan 5. At the City Court to-day, Edward Gilbert was charged with stealing a quantity of silk. Mrs Eussell, the prosecutrix, alleged that she gave the silk to Gilbert to mind. The accused, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. On leaving the dock Gilbert told a witness that he had better clear out of the country before he came out. Auckland, January 5. There are 35 witnesses for the prose, cution m the case of Pijestlj and Mrs Hamilton, for alleged murder. Twenty-seven prisoners have been committed for trial at the criminal sessions. Thames, Jan. 5. At the Resident Magistrate's Court to-Gay the case of an old man named Nolton, brought up as being the father of a child by his own daughter, was heard at length. The case was most revolting m its details. Nolton's wife gave evidence against him, m addition to that given by his daughter. The case \ was ultimaebly dismissed for want of sufficient evidence. The charge against Gudgeon, for attempted rape upon the wife of Mr ! Ehrentried, the brewV, comes on definitely to-morrow.
