Safety Matches.
Elsewhere will be found one of the English advertisements sent out to the Standard by the last 'Frisco mail, others of which will appear m due course, as room can be made for them. Messrs Knos & Co.'s Bafety matches bear a special trade mark, a steamer, and only ignite on the box, thus greatly diminn ishing the risk of accidental fire. At the Sydney Exhibition 1880, the Special Steamer Safety Matches won the first prize, and the following is a copy of the judges' special report: — "The judges have tested some matches made by the Exhibitor, and the results were highly satisfactory. If the wood be thoroughly ignited, directly the flane is extinguished they become black, and all combustion, even smouldering ceases. As many persons carelessly throw away still incandescent matches, the judges consider that the use of such matches as these would prevent many accidental fires. Being really safety matches, they recommend the exhibit for a first degiee of merit."
