(by telegraph.) (united press association.) Wellington, This Day. Lucia Stewart, who was taken m custody yesterday for child stealing at Dunedin, was brought before the magistrate to-day. The plaintiff having obtaiued possession of the child, refused to offer any evidence, and the accused was therefore allowed to go. Later. The particulars are as follows: — It is understood that the accused Lucia ' Stewart, is a married woman from Cdristchurch, and that some time back '' her daughter was adopted by a gentles man residing m that city, and when the former whb leaving the cathedral city she took charge of the child and brought her to Wellington, Information was at once given to the police, and the ladj m question was arrested pending arrival of warrant.
