(BY TELEGRAPH.) (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Jan. 3. Nearly £10,00-0 passed through the totalisator during the three days' races I at the summer meeting. The City of New York took four boxes gold, value £15,228, the produce of the Thames gold fields. Letters received st«te that amongst the passengers saved by swimming at the wreck of the eteamer New England, at the Clarence River Heads, were the Rev Mr Watkins, principal of the Three Kings Institution, Auckland, and his father, the Rev W. J. Watkins.
