An Adslaide telegram give* further particular* respecting the fatal accident to Mr* Margaret Newton, on board the s,*, Potosi, while en route for Auckland, and a brief account of which we have already published. It appear* she wa* struck dead by the breaking of a derrick* having her skull fractured and neck dis» located. The wood of the derrick was to a great extent decayed. The deceased waa standing on deck looking over the railing into the hold when the accident happened. There was only a ton or a tot and a half on the derrick, and, if sound, it would have carried three or four ton*. Mrs Newton was accompanied by two children, one four years, the other seven years old. An inquest was held, acd a verdict returned that dsath wa* caused by the breaking of a derrick, no blame being attachable te anyone. The heads of various department* in the Government service have had a form given them, which they »re instructed to till up, giving an account of the age, birthplace, nationality, and length of service of each of the clrfka iu such dtpartment.
