IT is notified, for general information, that I have appointed CHAELES CANNING, ESQUIRE, one of the Auditors of the Provincial Accounts for the Year ending June 30th,1861. William Adams, Superintendent. ODE OF SIGNALS, WAIRAU RIVER MOUTH. DIRECTIONS. Vessels running for the bar.—Open the harbour well, with the flag-staff in view. Flag at mast head.—Take the bar. Flag half-mast.—Keep out. Flag half-mast, and flag N. W. yardarm.— Run to Port Underwood. Flag half-mast, and flag S.E. yardarm.— Anchor.. IN TAKING THE BAR, Whatever way the ball moves on the yard, put the vessel’s head the same way. Ball at either end of yardarm, give the vessel a broad sheer the same way. When the ball remains at either yardarm, keep the vessel the same way until removed. As the ball gradually moves towards either yardarm, sheer the vessel gradually the same way.
