INTERVENTION IN SYRIA.
[From the Home Hews.']
The Convention between the great Powers, concerning intervention in Syria, has been finally settled. The most important point it contains is, that the intervention is to last only so long as the Snltan shall permit it. He alone is to judge as to its policy or necessity; so that the integrity of his sovereignty is recognised as the fundamental principle of the movement. The Sultan’s representative at Paris may, at any moment, announce that information has been received which renders interference unnecessary. This right is reserved, but of course it will not be exercised. French troops, to the number of 6,000, are now on their way to Beyrout, if they have not already arrived there.
