CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the Marlborough Press. Slit—Some time since there was a great stir about the Volunteers, and the people came forward unanimously. I believe a committee was appointed, but I should like to know what they have done or intend doing. lam afraid they are asleep, or I should think ere this they would have had the people out to drill, for there is a great deal to he done before the guns come. Can you, Mr. Editor, give me any information on this subject ? I am, &c., A Volunteer. Wairau, August 3, 1860. [The oily information we can give “ A Volunteer ” is, that the Governor expressed his willingness to accept the services of the proposed corps, and a‘meeting of the committee was held in Blenheim; but not having in their possession rules, &c„ of rifle corps in other provinces, their proceedings were postponed.—Ed. M. F.]
