An unfortunate accident happened to our Resident Magistrate, & L. Muller, Esq., in the beginning of the week, whilst proceeding to the Awatere in the capacity of Returning Officer for that district. A horse proceeding along the road in front of him kick<s him on the leg, inflicting a severe flesh , wound. Although Dr. Muller has been laid up with the accident, we are happy to say that he is fast recovering, and will be able to resume his public duties in a few days. From this occurrence the Elections for ■Awatere and Picton have been postponed to the days mentioned in advertisements that appear in our columns this week. From the latest New Zealand Gazettes we gather the followings His Excellency tbe Governor has been pleased to direct, that the Township in the Province of Marlborough, heretofore known as Beaver, be for the future named Blenheim, and to be referred to accordingly in all official documents. (Signed) E. W. Stafford. By proclamation of;;thc Governor no arms, gunpowder, or other warlike stores shall be imported without a license from the Commissioners of Customs. The carriage, or removal coastwise of all arms, ammunition,' and warlike stores, except such as belong, to her Majesty, is prohibited.
