Sir—l have heard, with much surprise, that the stewards of the late Marlborough Races have retained a portion of the sum subscribed as a reserved fund for future races. I can hardly believe so improbable a statement; but as it is generally circulated, I think the stewards, in justice to themselves, and for the satisfaction of their constituents, should publish a statement of receipts and expenditure.
