The first issue of a newspaper is always attended with numerous and vexatious difficulties, and we have not escaped "without a share of them. We must, however, throw ourselves on the kind indulgence of our readers, who, we trust, will make some allowance for our shortcomings. \t present, everything about us is new, and consequently stiff in working ; hut when we have been at work for a short time, we trust there will he no occasion for further apology. Our subscribers at and near Beaverton will receive their papers regularly on the day ot publication; and every means will be taken to ensure the earliest possible delivery ot all. If any of our subscribers will be land enough to inform us as to the best means of forwarding their papers, we shall not tail to follow their instructions. Wairau river mouth 6'30 ~ ~ White Bluff .. • • 6 0 Tides at the Wairau river mouth are very irregular; the neap tides arc often higher than the springs. Ordinary rise 3 feet ; sto 8 feet on the bar at high-water.
