Lord Reay, the chairman of the London School Board, has written to the AgentGeneral to say that, with the approval of t tie Board of Education, the School Board are preparing a scheme by which a certain number of letters written by scholars in their schools shall be forwarded each year to scholars attending schools in such colonies of the British Empire as are willing to co-operate, and the answers shall be received and distributed. If the educational authorities of New Zealand are willing *o help in this scheme, particulars of the pan will be sent direct ly to them. The Dunedin correspondent of the Greymouth Star says:- -Several Government supporters, including more than one Otago member' are dissatisfied at the Premier's statement that no further alterations in the Cabinet are intended before the close of session. The probabilities are that a motion he proposed from the Ministerial side during the Address-in-Reply expressing dissatisfaction with the Ministry as at present constituted. It shows how careful one should be in throwing stone. Ihe other day an Arrowtown resident, while driving a cow, threw a stone at it. The stone apparently struck a vital part, for the animal dropped as dead as a door nail.— Lake County Press. A new penny journal was to make its appearance in London on April 23.
