VOLUNTEER NEWS.
A return match between teams selected from the Takaka and Motueka Mounted Rifles was fired at the Upper' Takaka range on Monday last, resulting in a victory for Takaka by 47 points. The day was an excellent one for shooting up till three o'clock when the light became bad and it was decided that five on each side, indicated below by an asterisk, should fire only" three shots each at the 500 yards range. Sergeant Chittenden was in charge of the Motueka company, and rv.rporal Barnett the Takaka team. Seven shots were allowed at each range -\n excellent luncheon was provided for the visitors and, taken altogether, a very pleasant day's outing was secured. The following are the scores :
