TIME HE CHANGED HIS HORSE.
A young Thames resident has (says the Thames Star), gone through a chapter of accidents this month. Early in the month, while riding at night at Tararu, his horse shied violently and ran right over the embankment, turning over and precipitating the rider some yards ahead on the sand. The following week while ascending a steep bank at Parawai the horse reared completely over on its back. Whrle the equestrian tried to leap free of the saddle unfortunately one foot was Cammed hard in the stirrup and .-the pair fell twelve feet or more down, rolling in between one another, the horse eventually stopping at the lower of the hill, head downwards, jammed in a slight hollow with the rider's legs beneath him firmly held by the stirrup. It seemed to the onlooker's incredible that he could escape without some serious injury, as the horse was becoming restive, and in trying to rise it kicked him twice in the shoulder, narrowly missing his head. Taking advantage of these movements the rider pulled his legs from beneatn the horse and the stirrup leather became free .from the saddle. The same horse, two days later, while gall >ping along on the grass beside the road, stepped into a drain overgrown with docks, both horse and rider turning complete somersaults. The following day, while being driven in a trap the horse suddenly took charge and bucked so severely that the occupant was thrown out, the horse falling down in the harness, which had to be freed before it could be released, leaving the trap looking the .vorse for wear. Two days I later the same horse slipped while can- [ tering on a wooden crossing, s the rider I once more coming to earth, each time escaping without a scratchi like the feline tribe with nine lives.
