Ox beef 23s 6d, cow beef 20s. Bttst bollocks L 9 to 1.9 10s, others 18 10s, L 8 15s. 18 7s 6d ; cows L 6 15s, light L 5 10s. An average 3-ard-ing of sheep of good quality sold freely. Ewes 9s I Id, 10s ; wethers 14s Id, 13s 9d. Christchurch, April 22. At the Aldington market to-day there were fair yardings, and the attendance was good. Eat cattle—l4s head were yarded. Steers L 6 15s to 110 7s 6d, heifers 15 5s to 111 7s 6d, cows 15 5s to 110 12s. Beef ruled at from 24s to 27s per 1001 b. Eat sheep—The entry was smaller than has been the case recently, but i-jcluded a fair proportion of prime quality ewes and wethers. There .vas keen competition all round, best ewes being fully a shilling dearer than last week, and wethers firm at late rates. Wethers, extra heavy 18s 9d to 20s, freezing 16s to 18s 6d ; wethers and maiden ewes, 13s Id to 17s lid; ewes, freezing 13s to 16s, butcners' 10s to 17s 10d, extra heavy to 19s Id ; merino wethers 10s 3d to 15s 6d. Fat lambs —Tnere was an average yarding, comprising several large lines suitable for export. For all good sorts there was a brisk demand at late rates. Freezers brought from 12s 4d to 14s; tegs to 15s 5d . butchers' 9s 3d to 14s 9d.
Pigs-There was a large yarding, including a consignment af stores from the Waikato district. They were of better quality than those entered from the same locality a few weeks ago but met with very poor demand. Fat pigs sold better, but the market is weakening. Baeovers brought from 45s to 20s, equal to fiom 4id to 5d per lb ; porkers, 30s to "38s, equal to per lb ;'stores, 20s to 265; medium 15s to 1 9s, we.a nets 8s to 13.
