STOCKSALES. Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., In conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their sale at Johnsonville on Thursday last as follows :--A full entry of priuie quality came forward. Bidding was slow. Beef made 23s 6d. A few light cows were also dull. Best bullocks .£9 10s to £9 15s, others (light) £7 10s, cows £5 17s 6d. Sheep, in full numbers, were equal to last week's rates, Ewes, light, 10s to 10s 6d, others 9s to 10s, wethers lis Id; latvbs, medium quality 9s 3d, others 8s to 8s sd. Christchurch. April 8. There was a full yarding at Addington market to-day, 20,000 sheep, 550 cattle and 400 pigs being penned. There was a good attendance of buyers, but the sale not finishing till after dark, the last pens of sheep suffered in competition.

Fat cattle--194 head were yarded, principally light heifers and cows. The demand was good at late rates. Steers, L 6 17s 6d to L 9 10s ; heifers, L 5 15s to L 8 15s ; cows, L 5 5s to L 9 7s 6d : beef, 24s to 27s per 1001 b. Fat sheep—The yarding included a good paoportion of first quality wethers and ewes. Prime wethers weie keenly competed for, and sold readily, at recent rates, but export buyers neglected ewes, and values eased in eonsequenee. Towards the close of the sale the attendance of buyers was small, and as a result a number of good lines were paseed. The range of prices was—Best freezing wethers, 17s to 18s 6d ? heauy wethers, to 19s 11 d . lighter wethers, 14s to 16s 6d ; maiden

ewes, 14s 5d to 16s lOd ; freezing e%ves, lis to 14s 6d ; butchers* ewes, 9s 6d to 16s 7d ; extra heavy, to 19s 6.1. Fat lainbs-2839 were entered, which included a large proportion hardjy prime, and for these tr.e sale dragged. For all fit for freezing there was good competition, though prices were a shade easior than last week's. Freezers, 12s 6d to 14s lOd ; tegs, to 15s 7d ; butchers', lis to 13s 6d. Pigs--There was a good entry, which included a number of first-class quality baeoners and porkei-s. Competition was not particularly keen, and prices all round were inclined to be irregular. Choppers brought up to L 4 7s 6d ; baeoners from 46s to 68s, equal to froni 5d to s.|d per lb ; porkers from 28s to 455, equal to s|d to, 6d per lb ; stores were hard to sell, prices ranging from 18s to 30s ; weaners. 6s to 10s. i
