RIWAKA COLLIE CLUB.

The annual trial of the above Club took place in Mr Thomas Macmahon's paddock last Saturday. There was a good attendance of the public, more particularly those interested in the driving working of sheep, there being visitors from Takaka, Ngatinioti, and other parts of the district. The ■judging was left in the'hands of Messrs J. S. Wratt and Thomas Heath, (the latter kindly consenting to act at the last moment in the absence of Mr J. Flowers) and they discharged their onerous duties to the satisfaction both of competitors and spectators. Messrs Alex Drummond and John Woolf officiated as time keepers and flag stewards were Messrs Ernest James jind D. McGaveston. Mr Harry Byrne kthe hon. secretary, filled the position most satisfactorily and materially assisted to make the gathering a success. The sheep worked during the trial were supplied by Messrs H. Drummond and J. Cook. A refreshment booth was provided, and a capital luncheon was served to which ample justice was done. The trial started shortly after ten and was concluded about half past five o'clock. At the conclusion of the programme Mr Wratt congratulated the club on the advance ment of the club since last year, the ■. dogs entered oeing a very fair lot, exhibiting signs of careful training. He advised the club to abandon the pappy

stakes, as being of little practical use in a trial such as they had that day. Mr Heath concurred in the remarks of the previous speaker.
