MOTUEKA GYMNASTIC CLUB.

A general meeting of the above club whs held on Tuesday evening, the chaii being occupied, by Dr. Deck. There was a good attendance of memders. In taking the chair Dr. Deck apologised for not taking more interest in the club'last season, but the fact was he had been, extremely busy. The secretary read . the minutes which were adopted. A balance sheet «as also submitted, which shewed the receipts to have been LIS Is 6d and the expenditure LIS 19s 2d, leaving a eiedit balance of LI 2s 4d. -v After discussion it was resolved to vote the sum of 21s as a gift to Mr Stevens, who kindly visited Motueka on several occasions to impart instruction to the members. The election of officers was then proceeded with, with the following result : President Dr Deck, Vice Presidents, T. A. Harris and J. Greensill ; Committee : Misses Hughes, Brougham, and Johnston, Messrs Boundy, Bradley L. Manoy and Delany. Secretary and Treasurer G. W. Jenkins, Captains Miss Hughes and Mr L. Manoy. j In thanking the members for elect- j ing him as President, Dr Deck acknowledged the kindness shown to Miss Deck by the members, who, with him, would wish her happiness in her future state. Mr Fitzsimmons, who was also leaving the district, had done a great deal for the club and deserved their best thanks. Mr Harris, referring to the departure of Miss Deck and Mr Fitzsim mons, thought a record should be made of the excellent services rendered to the Club by both. He moved to that effect and proposed that Miss Deck and Mr Fitzsimmons be elected life members of the Club. Seconded by Mr Greensill and carri ed ull a nim on sly. Mr Fitzsimmons returned thanks :«:d stated that it was always a pleasure to him to work for the Club, the members of which had heartily supported him, At a later stage, he announced his intention of giving a tiophytothe best all round ir»an, at the end of the present season. Miss Deck also 1 eturned thanks and off-red for competition the trophy she had won last year. The Chairman also donated one gu nea to the funds. T !i h subscriptions were fixed at 5s f a- ihe term, or 7s.J3d the season. This concluded the business.
