"When I lived in Wellington I was •a New Zealand trades unionist," said a speaker at a Farmers' Union meeting at Eketahuna recently, "and 1 thought the land belonged to the nation, and should pay all the taxes. Now 1 have put in six or seven years on the farm I am inclined to think land nationalisation and protection tariffs are crimes militating against the progress of the colony. If D, P. 'Fisher and other agitators were compelled to endure the hardships of the settlers for a few years we should have less wild cat legislation !"
