DOVEDALE STOCK SALE.
Messrs VV .. Rout and Sons report as follow.-/on their stoi'k sale at Thorpe: We held the most extensive sale of stock y> y t- conducted in tne Dovedale district on Tuesday la*t 7 when buyers were prtssent from nil the surrounding districts and the Coast. We yarded nearly 2500 sheep,. 40 rams, 76 head cattle and several horses. The following prices were- realised : Shropshire Down rams £.2- 12s Sd ; liomuey Marsh rams, .£2 7s 6d ;. store ewes 6s Id to 9s 8u ; store wethers 9s 8d to 10s ; fat wethers 1 0.- 5d to lls 2d. A few lines of first class sheep and lambs were passed, but business was eventually done privately. The demand principally was foi store ewes, and competition was keen for every line. We.sold on behalf of Mr T. Hail a nice lot of cattle 24- years old, L 5 15s and 1.5 5s ; Jifteen months old L.2 17s; .veaners Ll 12s 6d ; one shorthorn bull .£3 ss. The demand for horses was very poor, not one entry finding a buyer.
