Oats.—[new] Milling, 2s ; short feed, Is lOd to Is lid ; Duns,'ls 8d to Is 9d ; Danish Is 8d to Is 9d at country stations. Barley": Prime malting, 8s 3d to 3s 4d ; Cape, 2s 6d, at country stations. Flour (millers’ quotations): Roller £l2. Pollard : .£6 10s ton. Bran : £6 Os. Oatmeal : £l4 10s f.p.b. Ryegrass—Well dressed farmers’ parcels, 2s to 2s 6d, Italian ryegrass 3s to 3s 3d, cocksfoot 3d to 3gd per lb delivered. STOCK SALES.
Messrs Freeman R Jackson 'and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their sale at Johnsonville on Tuesday last as follows : —A full entry of bullocks of prime quality were easier than last week. We quote beef at 255. One pen of prime heifers made 21s. Best bullocks, heavy weights. Lll 10s; others L 9 10s to L 10; others L 9 5s to L 9 7s. A small entry of sheep of second rate quality were yarded. Ewes best, 12s 9d : others 8s 9d to 10s ; wethers 11s 3d; medium lambs 7s 6d to 9s 3d ; stores 6s. Ranis made from 10s 6d to 17s 6d.
'Christchurch, February 7, 18. Fat cattle—Bs head yarded. On Kiunt of the small entry, prices an advance. Steers up to £lO ■■auers £8 17s 6d ; cows £5 2s 6d ; extra heavy £lO 7s 6d ; average yarding met sale as regards freezing prices being well There was little demand, freezing ewes, and sales reduction, a remark applies to all inferior sorts.
wethers brought from 16s 3d butchers, extra prime 14s to Bs 9d ; medium quality 11s to 13s 6d; ther sorts 9s to 10s Bd.
Fat-lambs —An entry of 5000 including some excellent quality. For primesfc there was a slight advance on last week’s prices, while generally 'prices were For freezers, best sorts 14s to 15s 2d, a few extra heavy 15s 8d to 17s 2.1 : lighter weights 12s 6d to 13s 6d ; graziers’ and butchers’ sorts 9s upwards. . -
Store sheep*—l4,7oo penned, mostly lambs and wethers. The range of prices was: Forward lambs 9s 8d to 9s
l id, others from 5s 9d to 8s Bd, four” tooth wethers, from 13s 9d to 14s 6d ; two tooth from 10s 5d to I3s 4d ; young ewes 13s 9d to 14s Bd, merino ewes 6s 7d.
Pigs-—The entry was small, and last week’s prices were maintained. Baeoners 45s to 655, equal to od per lb, porkers 30s to 40s, equal to sld to 6d ; stores 16s to 30s, suckers and weaners 10s to 15s.
Dunedin February 18.
Fat cattle —159 head yarded, including a fair proportion of good quality bullocks. The demand was not keen, and prices were barely maintained. Best bullocks £9 10 to LlO 12s 6d, medium £8 to £9 7s 6d, others £6 5s to £7 7s 6d ; best cows L 7 2s 6d to L 9, medium L 5 5s to L 7, others L 3 10 to L 5 2s 6d.
Fat sheep ' 2380 were penned, and met with a poor masket, prices showing a decline of fully Is 6d a head. Best wethers 15s to 15s 6d; a few extra heavy to 18s ; medium wethers 13s 9d to 14s 9d, others 12s 6d to 13 6d, best 14s. to 15s 3d ; few extra heavy to 17s 9d, medium 11s 6d to 13s 9d ; others 9s 6d to 11s 3d.
Lambs: 1429 were penned and sold under good competition at a decided advance. Best 12s to 13s 6d ; one pen extra prime 15s sd, medium 9s ,to 11s 9d, others 7s 9d to 8s 9d. Pigs : 102 were penned. All sorts but suckers [which declined 3s to ss) sold well.. Suckers 10s to 15s 6d ; slips 18s to .265, porkers 32s to 425, baconers 44s to 525, choppers 55s to 755.
