INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODDFELLOWS.
The Annual Meeting of the Motueka District Lodge of Oddfellows was held in Motueka on Tuesday, the 27tb January. G.M. G. Winter occupied the chair and D.G.M. E. W. Win the vice chair. The following delegates were also present .
Motueka Lodge: P.P.G.M’s W. Boyce and F. Parker, G.M. H. Boyce. Takaka Lodge : P.P.G.M’s J. F. lv>se and P. B. Packard.
Good Intention Lodge, Rivyaka : P.P.G.M’s John Rowling and A Ihgli.--.
South Star Lodge, • Dovedale : P.P.G.M’s Noble Win and Walter Thorn.
Minutes of previous meeting read and adopted. Proposed by Bro Parker, seconded by Bro Win That this meeting adjourn for half an hour as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Bro Hursthonse.
Upon resuming the balance sheet was read and adopted. The following is an abstract of the balance sheet for the year ending December 31 sfc, 1902.
Management Fund—Receipts (including £24 14s 3d brought forward from last year) .£54 13s 9d. Expenditure £3l 10s lOd, leaving credit balance of L 23 2s lid.
Funeral Fund Receipts £72 7s 3d, including balance at last audit of Ll 3 16s Bd. Expenditure LI2, the sum of L6O 7s 3d being carried forward.
Widow and Orphans Fund—Receipts LI 86 13s lOd, including balance brought forward of L 94 2s lid. Expenditure L 36 3s, the credit balance being LI 50 10s lOd. Benevolent Fund —Receipts, inclusive of LlO 8s Id carried forward, LlO 15s Bd. Expenditure L 4, the baltnce being L 6 15s Bd. Total worth of the district L 2330 16s Bd. Audited and found correct by A. Askew and Jas Cook. The following resolutions were also passed : That the G.M and D.G.M Auditors Delegates and Tyler be paid according to scale. That the C S’s salary and sundries, £lO 10s 6d, be paid. That N.G S. B. Canavan and V.G U: Stewart" be District Auditors for the ensuing year and that they have 20s each for their services, That the examining and relieving officers rernain in office. That this society determines to become a District Branch under the Friendly Societies Act ; of the New Zealand Branch' of the Manchester Tin tv Independent Order of Odd Fellows Friendly Society. That the rules of this Society be amended so as to bring the same in compliance with the provisions of the Friendly S >cieties Act, 1882, and the regulations in respect of the registration of Branches in the manner set forth in the amendments hereto annexed.
That the C.S , P.P.G.M W. Bovce, and P.P.G.M H. Everett be appointed a comrnitf.ee to revise the District Rules to bring them into compliance with the New Zealand M.G. Rules.
Tnat the various Lodges in the Distr et be requested to forth' committees and submit any. suggestions they think necessary to'bring' the District Rules into compliance with the New Zealand Branch of the M.U. Rules, all such suggestions to' be 'dent in : to the O.S. within five weeks from this date. That the C.S. examine the Books of all the Lodges in the District in \NoVritn'oer in each year, and submit a report of such examination to each Lodge, also to the January District
meeting, and that he be paid 42s for his services.
That the C.S. have four books of Initiation and Declaration forms printed. '
That the funeral money paid by the Motueka Lodge £4B.be repaid. That the funeral money paid by the Takaka lodge, £lB be repaid. That the widows and orphans of deceased brothers be recipients of the Widow and Orphans Fund.
That P.P.G.M F. Parker receive 5s per year for looking after the pall. •' That the retiring D.G.M. E. Win be P.G.M for the ensuing term.
That P.G. E. W. James be D.P.G.M for the ensuing term. The G.M. was duly installed, .by P.P.G,M W. Boyce. That this district place en record the great loss they have sustained by the death of the .late Bro R. Hursthouse and that they instruct the C.S to write a letter of sympathy to his relatives. „
That P.P.G.M W. Boyce, P.P.G.M H. Rmnbold, P.P.G.M H. Everett, and P.P.G.M John Rowling be the Executive committee to hold office until next January meeting.
