The first prize will amount to between L 250 and L 350. Recently a case of anthrax was reported from Woodlands, and now the Western Star is informed that the dreaded disease has made its appearance at Limestone Plains, two cows and one horse belonging to Mr James Pirie having died. Mr Gilmour, inspector of stock for Wallace, proceeded to the locality to see that the carcases of the animals were properly destroyed. The cases have broken out in Southland are traceable to the animals having licked up imported bonedust, in which the spores of anthrax were to be found. The Inniskilling Dragoons, who arrived at Southampton lately, have the distinction of never having been off trek from the first advance until the declaration of peace. It is probable that the battleship Ring Edward YII., now building at Devonport, will be ready for sea by September, 1904, six months sooner than expected. Certainly the best medicine known is Sander and Sons’ Eucalypti Extract. Test it seminently powerful effects in coughs, colds, influenza—the relief is instantaneous in serious cases and accidents, be they wounds, Burns, scalds, bruises, sprains, is the safest remedy—no swelling, no inflammation. Insist on getting Sander and Sons’ Eucalypti Extract, or else you will be supplied with worthless oils.
