STOCKSALES.
Christchurch,. January 7.
There were large entries and a good attendance at the Addington market today : Fat cattle—l3o were yarded, which proved equal to requirements. Late prices were maintained. Steers L 9 2s 6d to Ll2 2s 6d ; heifers L 6 I.os to L 10; cows L 5 15s' to L 8 7s 6d, beef 27s to 30s per 1001 b Fat sheep—A good entry, e.ves in fair condition predominating. For primest quality late i-ates were maintained, but for unfinished sorts there was a marked decline on the previous week's prices. The following is the range of prices:—Heavy-weight wethers to 20s Td, prim & freezers 17s 6d to 20s, lighter weights 16s to 17s, freezing ewes 14s to 17s, best butchers' ewes 16s to 18s 6d, others 12s 4d to 15s 6d, prime merino wethers 17s 6d.
Fat lambs—There was a decided falling off in this market. Prime sorts found purchasers at about a Is per head below the-pievious week's rates, but the bulk evoked little competition. Pigs—A fair entry met with keen demand at an advance- in prices. Baconers 45s to 585,. extra heavy bringing 675, equal to per lb, porkers 28s to 445, large stores 27s to-375, medium 20s to 255, suckeis and weaners 12s to 18s.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their sale at Johnsonville on Tuesday last as follows : —A average entry of bullocks, mostly pi-ime heavyweights, with a few light medium quality, were easier than hist sale. We quote beef at 26s to 27s per 1001 b; the heavy-weights were about 255. Best bullacks .£ll 17s 6d to .£l2 ss; others .£ll to LI 1 15s; light medium quality ,£lO 10s to .£lO 17s 6d and £8 15s" to £9 17s 6d. Sheep, in small numbers, but of good quality, were slow of sale. Best wethers 14s 7d, other's 13s, ewes 12s 7d, others 10s, 10s 4d, lis 7d to 12s. Limbs 10s 6d, others 9s.
