POKORORO.
A Pokororo correspondent writes : The annual Pokororo teaparty was held on Friday, the* 19th, being a great success. Mr Heath, of Heatherdale.. very kindly opened his paddocks to horses and visitors. A cricket match was played between Ngatimoti and Whakarewa the former securing a win by 9 wickets. The Ngatimoti and Pokororo schools also played a match, the latter winning by 3 runs ; also a scratch match by others present. A splendid lurnch was provided by the Misses Heath, under the large Heatherdale veranda, at which about 50 sat down, the promoters being deservedly praised by all. The most pleasing sight of the day was a Christmas tree, beautifully decorated and loaded, and suspended from the roof of the school, the novel idea having been suggested by our popular teacher, Miss Bradley, and carried out by our local quaint inventor. The tree was lowered at 7.30. To see the happy little faces when the num*» hers were called was a treat to parents and everyone, and the day will be remembered at Pokororo as a red letter day.
