The members of the Motueka Cricket Club at their adjourned annual meeting passed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr G. W. Jenkins, who for some years acted as Secretary and Treasurer and also made him a life member of the club. The compliment was well deserved, as Mr Jenkins spared neither time nor money to advance the interests of the Club. As justifying the action of those responsible for the establishment of the High School here it may be noted that the roll for this branch of the school is now 40. McGowan, Government Dairy Instructor, has been on a visit to the Mataura district, in Southland, advising and reporting on several butter factories that are being erected there. It has been decided to build an up-to-date central factory at Mataura, with creameries at Tuturau, Middlevale and other places. This step is said to have been forced upon the Mataura Dairy Factory Company by the incursions of outside competitors upon the supplies of the district. The new departure will he watched with interest in Southland.
