Just before the close of the meeting on Tuesday evening, His Worship the Mayor said that certain councillors and residents had asked MrHursthouse for a photograph of himself in order that it might be enlaiged and placed in the Council Chamber. Nothing further bad been heard of the matter until Cr Ryder received a package containing the enlargement, which he had brought to the meeting and which they would all agree was an excellent likeness, and one they ought to feel flattered to have in their possession. He had great pleasure in moving a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Hursthouse for his gift. Cr Erl wards said he was proud to be able to second the motion and thought it would be an honor to the Council to have an enlargement of the first Mayor of Motueka. Cr Ryder explained the circumstances in connection with the application for the photograph and the receipt by him of the enlargement. The motion was carried unanimously and it was decided on the motion of Cr Thorp, seconded by Cr Satherley,' That the Town Clerk apply for permission to suspend the enlargement in the Council Chamber.
