STOCK SALES. Christchurch, October Bth. At Addington to-day the fat cattle numbered 196. They were a mixed entry. Owing to exporters and butoheis having satisfied their wants in North Otago and Southland, the demaud was not so keen, and there was a decline of 2s 6d per 1001 b, beef selling at 27s to 32s 6d. Prime steers Lll to LI 4, others L 6 12s 6d to LlO, prime heifers LlO to LIS 2s 6d, others L 5 12s 6d to L 9, prime cows L 9 to LI3, others Lsss to LB. Store cattle —300. There was improved demand. Calves 17s, yearlings LI 15s to LI 19s, 15 and 18-months L2 7s to L2 19s 6d, 2-year steers L 4 6-,> heifers L 3 15s to L 3 19s 6d, 3-year Hteers L 5 14s to L 5 15s, heifers L 5, dairy cows L2 10s to L 4, dairy cows L 3 15s to L 9. Fat sheep —3000, mostly prime crossbred and merino wethers. There ' was great- scarcity of ew T es. Good sheep showed a rise of fully Is 6d. Prime wethers 23s to 245, freezers 18s 6d to 22s Bd, light 14s 9d to 17s 6d, shorn wethers 17s 4d, prime heavy ewes 20s to 23s 2d, good wethers 16s to 20s Bd, ewes 12s 4d. Fat lambs —60 sold at 14s 6d to 17s 3d, others 9s 6d to 14s. Store sheep —A mixed entiy of 3388
There was slightly improved demand for hoggets, but other sorts /were hard to quit at vendors’ reserves, and more than half the yarding was withdrawn. Wethers lA$ Id to 15s large line of shorn passed at 8s lOd, ewes and lambs 8s 3d to 9s Id all counted, hoggets 8s to 10s 6d. Pigs—About 400. There was im proved demand for all sorts. Baconers 38s to 545, porkers 25s to 37s good stores 14s to 225, small 6s to 10s 6d.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their stock sale at Johnsonville on Tuesday last as follows : —A small entry of bullocks of prime quality sold freely. We quote beef at 30s per 1001 b, a few pens bringing up to 325, best bullocks XI3 15s to XI4 ss, .LI2 12s 6d and XI3 10s; others XII 7s 6d to XI2 10s. There was a smaller entry of sheep than last week. The ewes were of good quality ; and wethers with the exception of one pen, were only stores. Best ewes 14s 6d to 15s 3d ; wethers 17s Id ; others 12s Id ; stores 10s 6d. Two pens of lambs made 12s and 13s.
