In connection with the statement made regarding the difficulty some returned Contingent men have had in getting their names on the electoral roll, the Registrar of Electors for Christchurch states that there .is nothing to prevent any one who has been absent from the colony on public business being re-registered if his name has been removed from any roll, provided he applies within three months of his return. In the cases of persons who have not previously been on any roll, but have resided twelve months in the colony, they can be enrolled after three months’ residence in the colony is not necessarily immediately preceding the claim for registration. A Dunedin paper .says that the general election cannot take place till the first w r eek in December, and it speaks on authority.
