STOCK SALES. Christchurch, October 1. At Addington market to-day, 112 fat cattle were yarded. Steers brought £lO iss to £l2 10s, heifers £6 10s to £B, light cows £6 to £8 10s, heavier £9 to £lO 2s 6d, and extra prime £ll to £l3 2s 6d ; prime beef 32s to 35s up to 37s 6d per 1001 b, lighter 28s t.o 31s. Fat sheep—3soo, including a few p ime lines. Wethers and ewes were in strong demand, both for local consumption and freezing, and prices advanced all round. Heavy wethers 22s to 24s 6d, freezers 18s to 21s, lighter 16s 6d to 17s 6d, extra prime heavy ewes 26s to 32s and up to 38s, prime 18s to 24s Id, others 15s to 17s 6d. merino wethers 17s 2d to 18s 4d, shorn crossbred wethers 15s lid. Fat lambs taken by butchers at 11s to 16s 6d, the bulk fetching 13s to 14s. Store sheep —1681, mostly hoggets. There was a better demand for ewes with lambs 7s 7d to 9s 2d, shorn merino wethers 4<, hoggets 9s 9d to 11s 4d, shorn Bs. P.gs —400. There was a good sale for all sorts, especially stores. At the Burnside maiket to-day, 140 fat cattle were yarded, which was not sufficient for requirements, and value®, especially for prime, which- were riot numerous, were fully Ll per head above last .week. The values to-day were the highest for years realising in more ■ thla n one instance 40s par 1001 b. Best bullocks (none of which were heavy) Ll2 to Ll 3 17s 6d, medium L 9 to Lll ss, light L 7 10s to L 8 IDs, best cows LlO 10s to Ll 2 2s 6d, medium L 8 to L 9 10s, light L 5 10s to L 7 10s.:

Fat sbeej?—Only 1376 were penned, The demand was keen, and there was a rise of fully 2s per head. The- bulk wejre of medium to inferior quality, and a few pens of prime, which met with exceptional demand.. Best wethers 21s to 255, medium 18s to 20s, light 12s to 13s 6d. Lambs —-Only .nine . were penned, which sold-iat 11s to 18s 3d.

Pigs—lßo were yarded. There was a good demand for porkers and baconers, bufj slips and suckers, which formed the majority, were difficult to quit. Suckers 7s to 12s, slips 13s to 16s stores 18s to 225, porkers 28s to 37s baconers 42s to 535, big pigs 655.

Jacksonfand'Co. in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their stock sal© at dohnsonville on Tuesday last..as follows : —An average yarding of cattle from medium to good quality, were easier last week. We quote —Beef, at 30s per 1001 b ; best bullocks £ll 7s 6d to L 1. 2; others L 9 17s 6d. A full yarding of sheep, mostly of good quality, showed a decline on last week’s rates. Best ewes, 14s Id to 15 s; others 11s 6d to .14s Id; shorn ewes 11s 4d ; shorn wethers 14s woolly wethers 16s 9d.
