MILK FEVER: A REMEDY.
One of the greatest troubles farmers have to contend against is the' milk fever in cows. Many people do not fully understand the actual nature of the fever, and consequently the means the3 T adopt to cope with it are not always effective as'is desirable. A wellknown dairy farrper, of the Main South road, W ainiate, whose experience' extends over a period of 20 years, has furnished us with particulars of a simple remedy that he has applied advantageously in every instance. Its so simple,” he says,, a good many people consider its not worth giving a trial.” The formula is as follows: Immediately after calving, take a cup full of salt, and sprinkle it over the newly born calf. The cow. will then proceed to lick it, and as, a consequence will develop a thirst. Then give her as much good spring water as she will di\nk,.._the more the better; The water has the effect of allaying the fever that the cow always suffers at this period.
