MOTUEKA WHARF BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was heMl at? the wharf on Tuesday afterPresent : Messrs Wratt (chairman), Belize and Everett.
Before the minutes were lead the Chairman took the opportunity of congiatulating Mr Everett on his election to a seat on the Board. He had no doubt they would work harmoniously together, and that he would be an acquisition to the Board, the more so as lie had long been associated with local b nlies.
Mr Beuke expressed regret that they had lost their late member, Mr Bate, through death ; he, likewise congratulated Mr Everett and had no doubt they would get along all right.
Mr Everett thanked the members mikl said he felt confident they would work together amicably. Referring to the death of Mr Bate, the chairman thought the Board should send a letter of condolence to Mrs Bate and family, and on the motion of Mr Beuke, seconded by Mr Everett, the Chairman was requested to forward a letter of sympathy. The Treasury Department acknowledged the receipt of ,£29 12s 6d being six month’s interest, to Ist August, on ) n. Accounts amounting to .£4O Os lOd were passed f.*r payment. The amount to credit at the Bank of New Zealand was stated to be £546 13s 6d. A short discussion took place as to Ihj advisability of having some person t, i discharge secretarial duties and it ••Viis eventually resolved, on the motion Mr Everett seconded by Mr Beuke, ! That applications be invited for the position of secretary to the B >ard, at a .•alary ~f £o per annum ; t » be sent in by the 4th October. i Resolved. That the wharfinger be re-qu *sted to furnish monthly reports for presentation at. meetings of the Boar 1. A letter from Mr A. Manoy was read, complaining of the administration at the wharf and protesting against the sfcriugincy of the bye laws as carried out by the wharfinger. On the motion of Mr Everett, sec mded by Mr Beuke it was resolved, That, in reply to Mr Manoy, he be informed that the wharfinger so far has acted in accordance with the Board’s l»ve laws and his agreement with the Board ; but that the whole question of wharf management will be considered at a subsequent meeting, when efforts will be mode to so ameud the bye laws a < to make them acceptable to the m i j >rity of shippers Ir, was.decided on the motion of Mr E • oratfc, That the Chairman procure a cupboard, letter file and other necessary office furniture. This conclu led the business.
