Ite League; of , men held the Dunlop test road,race on the 2fisfch rUto to decide the, Tasmanian representative > for the forthcoming WaFnambool iso Melbourne road race.. The event was a handicap one—the rider putting;,lip fastest.time to represent Tasmania. .The,course - was from LiHmieestm to Latrobe an d back, a dist t-ance of lil miles. Eighteen riders faced the starter, and eight finished, the winner turning up in the, .limit man A. Hardman, with B. Carswell second and G. third,. Carswell established fastest time, riding the distance in T hpurs 11 minutes 16 seconds a fine perforrnance considering the course was an . out and home one., Carswell’s ride is a Tasmanian record, being 7 minutes faster than F. Beauchamp’s record, established ,in 1897 over the same course, Carswell will act as representative of Tasmania in the Warnambool event, and will be accompanied by A. Hardman, the winner, who also intends competing.

During the hearing of the “ bread cases” at Dunedin, one of the wit nesses said that when bread was placed in the oven each loaf weighed 21b 3oz, but those loaves which were near the aide of the oven.got harder baked than the others.
