The Motueka Star PUBLISHED TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS. “Te Ora Mota Iwi.” TUESDAY, AUGUST, 12, 1902.
With this issue the Motueka Star complete the first year of its existence. A valuable greenstone brooch, lost last Staurday, is advertised for in this issue. Reward at Star office. We are compelled, through exigency of space, to hold over a report of the Rev T. Johnston’s sermon on Coronation Day. It will appear on Friday. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Motueka Borouh Council will be held this evening. A special meeting of the Motueka Brass Band was held last night, when the following motion, proposed by Mr A. I. Manoy, seconded by*Bandmaster Avery, was carried, That the Band become incorporated under the Unclassified Societies Registration Act, 1895, under the style and title of the Motueka Brass Band. It was mentioned at the meeting that Mr Johansen had offered to do the necessary legal work free of charge, an offer which was accepted with thanks. Mr T. Brougham presided. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Motueka Institute committee was held last night, Mr F. Thorp in the chair. It was decided to hold the annual ball on the 17th September, in the Institute. Accounts were also passed, and ordinary business transacted.
