Bartlett, Quayle, Maclarkuie, Knap.p,. and Ryder, Minutes of previous meeting read and adopted. ‘ 1 ' ' ; ' ; the chairman stated that he had forwarded certain, accounts to the Education I3oard, and had. reqeiyed a reply stating that as the work was not authorised by the Board they Were 'unable to ' pay for the same. He had also written t 6 the parents of the pupils who. ..went; up for the last scholarship examinatipns, asking for their proportions of the cost ot the supervisor’s fee ; Re-also stated’the Board would hot allow the Committee to open an account at the Post Office, as it was prohibited by the act. . Thfee accounts, amounting to £2 os 6d, were passed for payment. The headmaster’s report was received. Number on the roll, 174 ; 3 entered during the month, and one removed; average attendance, 150: the school was in good working order ; the late attendance noticeable during the early part:of the month had been reduced to a minimum ; - the test examinations had , proved satisfactory ; the chemical appliances ordered had been received arid were ndw in use. Mr Harris, secretary of the local branch ot the Educational Institute, wrote asking the committee to combine with neighboring committees in appointing, a truant officer.' 1 : It was resolved, after discusston, on the motion of Mr Macfarlane, that the letter lie on the table. It was resolved, oil the motion of Mr Wratt, to once more refer Mr Miller’s account- to the Board, the whole of the circuipstances in connection therewith to be explained. . Proposed by Mr Wratt, seconded by, Mr Bartlett; 1 and carried, That the schools be qlosed on Friday next, as requested by the Government. , This concluded,the business..
